Meet the 1000MTG travel expert - Gwiin C

We had the pleasure of interviewing Gwiin and learning about her passion for travel and running a successful 1000MTG – affiliated business – Memorable Moments Travel.

For Gwiin, an affinity for travel and finding love were the right ingredients for the beginnings of a fruitful career in travel. “From a young age, travel held a special allure for me, a fascination that only grew stronger when I found myself in a long-distance relationship. The frequent journeys to be with my partner not only fuelled my passion for exploration but introduced me to the exciting world of travel planning and coordination.”

Gwiin’s enthusiasm for travel is evident as she recounts her career journey to 1000MTG. Gwiin imparts invaluable advice to those contemplating becoming a Travel Advisor, and generously shares her experiences, and the joy that her business brings.

Where did your travel career start and what attracted you to the industry?

A long-distance relationship eventually led to a destination wedding in Jamaica. For this special occasion, we enlisted the help of a travel agent. The experience was eye-opening. Though the agent’s services were commendable, I found myself imagining ways I could enhance the journey for others. I envisioned a service where every trip was not just a means to reach a destination, but an unforgettable experience filled with “memorable moments.”

Before joining 1000MTG what was the catalyst for change?

My need for change was largely rooted in my passion for creating unique and enriching experiences for people. As the owner of Memorable Moments Travel, I had seen firsthand how personalized and meaningful travel experiences could create lasting memories. I wanted to leverage that understanding and passion on a larger scale, and 1000MTG offered the platform and opportunities to achieve that goal. Joining this team allowed me to broaden my horizons and apply my insights in travel planning towards a new and exciting venture.

What was it about 1000MTG that made you say yes?

It was the alignment of values and vision with my own approach at Memorable Moments Travel. 1000MTG’s commitment to innovation, customer-centricity, and creating truly unforgettable experiences resonated with my personal ethos and what I had aimed to achieve in the travel industry. I saw an opportunity to blend my expertise in crafting tailored travel experiences with 1000MTG’s expansive platform and resources. Tell us about your travel business niche

Our niche is rooted in creating unique opportunities for group, celebratory, and immersive travel experiences that are innovative and memorable. Our passion is to connect travelers with their chosen destinations in ways that go beyond the ordinary.

Our group and celebratory travel offerings are tailored to each client, focusing on connection, joy, and special occasions. We design trips that foster shared memories and honor life’s significant milestones.

What advice would you have for anyone considering becoming a Travel Advisor?

Becoming a Travel Advisor offers tremendous flexibility and autonomy, but it also requires a strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and a clear understanding of your goals and values. My advice would be to first identify your niche and what you are truly passionate about. In the travel industry, for example, having a specialization can help you stand out and build a loyal customer base.

Invest in continuous learning to keep up with industry trends and never underestimate the importance of networking. Building relationships with clients, suppliers, and fellow professionals can be a significant asset.

Lastly, approach your role as a Travel Advisor with an entrepreneurial mindset. Embrace both successes and failures as learning opportunities, and never lose sight of the reason you chose this path. The freedom to create, innovate, and define your journey is incredibly rewarding, but it requires dedication, persistence, and a willingness to adapt to an ever-changing landscape.

What’s the best thing about running your own business?

The best thing about running my own business is the ability to create unforgettable experiences. I have the freedom to shape the vision, values, and direction of my company, allowing me to infuse my passion for travel and personalized service into every aspect of what I do.

The challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship have provided continuous opportunities for growth and innovation. It’s a journey filled with excitement, learning, and fulfillment, knowing that I’m not only building a successful business, but also contributing positively to people’s lives and memories.

With the ability to work from anywhere, what has been your favourite remote working experience and why?

This one is easy, working from a cruise ship balcony.

The ability to feel the cool ocean breeze and hear the gentle waves while immersed in my work was nothing short of magical. This unique environment provided a perfect blend of relaxation and inspiration, allowing me to create, work, and think in ways that a conventional office setting simply couldn’t match. I couldn’t help but feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to experience work in such an extraordinary way. It’s a memory that continues to inspire me and reminds me of the endless possibilities that come with flexibility and an adventurous spirit.

If there is one place in the world people should visit, where is it?

I can’t just choose one, so it would be a toss-up between Israel and Iceland, both incredible in their unique ways.
Israel is a land rich in history, spiritual significance, vibrant culture, delicious food, and unique natural wonders like the Dead Sea. Walking through ancient sites provides a tangible connection to the past, while the spiritual journey here can be transformative. Whether exploring historic cities, enjoying the local cuisine, or floating in the Dead Sea, Israel offers a multi-faceted experience that resonates deeply with many travelers.

Iceland, on the other hand, is a destination that enchants its otherworldly landscapes. From stunning geysers and waterfalls to dramatic glaciers and geothermal springs, Iceland’s natural beauty is unparalleled. The opportunity to witness the Northern Lights or explore the volcanic terrain adds an adventurous edge. Iceland’s blend of raw natural beauty with modern Nordic culture and hospitality creates a travel experience that’s both exciting and serene.
