How do Travel Guard travel insurance plans work?

Your client has purchased a Travel Guard policy, now what? The good news with Travel Guard is that your client’s coverage becomes effective just 24 hours after purchasing their policy.

Let’s say something does happen before or during your client’s trip, what does your client do then? Here are some common situations and tips on how to handle them.

Cancelling a trip

If your client needs to cancel their travel plans, but haven’t left for their trip yet, they should cancel their reservations directly with the carrier, travel agent, or tour operator and then contact Travel Guard claims. Travel Guard will help your client get the paperwork they need to file a claim. Your client will be able to file a claim for any of the prepaid and non-refundable costs that they already paid – like a hotel deposit or flight.

Ending a trip early

Sometimes things come up, and your client needs to leave vacation early. Did you know, even if it’s not for a covered reason on their policy, Travel Guard can assist them with getting back home? If your client needs to go home early, they can contact Travel Guard’s World Service Center representatives, and they can help change flights, cancel reservations, and more – saving your client time and hassle. Once your client is home, they can file a claim for any covered lost or extra costs associated with getting back home.

Missing or cancelled flight

One of the worst feelings on vacation is your client seeing their flight take off without them or seeing that flight board switching to “cancelled.” As the rest of their flight mates get in line at the airport desk to rearrange their travels, your client can skip the hassle and call Travel Guard’s World Service Center directly. They can help you rebook their flight and get them on their way.

Visiting a doctor

Unfortunately, your clients aren’t immune from illness or injury while on vacation. But they don’t always have to end their trip due to an upset stomach or twisted ankle. If they are able to continue their trip, but need to see a doctor, they can call Travel Guard for a list of doctors in their area. Make sure your client gets a medical report and keeps any receipts, so they can file a claim when they are home.

Always remember, if your client is having an emergency, they should seek medical attention first. Once they are able to call Travel Guard and a medically trained case manager can help monitor their care while they are in the hospital. We have doctors, nurses and EMTs on staff who will speak with the treating medical staff to get regular updates on their condition.
