Meet some of our Independent Travel Advisors

1000MTG Travel Expert Sam Rowe

Sam R, Australia

Meet Sam. An experienced Corporate Travel Expert with over 20 years of experience in the industry, Sam joined 1000 Mile Travel Group Australia in 2023 after making the leap to being an independent agent.  While Sam had never run his own business and had no guaranteed client base, he felt confident backing his ability, experience, and knowledge.

“Through my journey, I have always felt fully supported at 1000MTG, and have grown my business through a combination of clients I have brought on myself, and ones provided by the excellent sales people in head office,” says Sam.

Sam values making all his own decisions about how he can grow his business, and the flexibility this new career path offers, none of which would be possible as an employee.

His insights since starting his own travel business – “the support that 1000MTG’s head office team offers is invaluable, knowledgeable, and has been essential to the growth of my business. I am very happy with my choice to join 1000MTG and look forward to many more successful years together.”

JoAnna G, USA

Meet JoAnna. Coming from a background of bricks-and-mortar agency experience, JoAnna says the best thing about running her own business, J Luxe Travel, is the freedom to focus on the type of travel style she wants to design for her clients whether it’s groups, cruises, guided tours, or independent travel.

An experienced leisure travel agent, JoAnna felt it was time for a change and was drawn to 1000 Mile Travel Group because it gave her access to everything she needed to start her own business. “They have a great group of account managers to guide you through the process and assist if required, along with all resources to get you started.”

An adventurer at heart, JoAnna loves doing things she’s never done before, like Great White Shark cage-diving, and experiencing new and unique cultures. Her newest love though is her one-year-old nephew who she spends as much time with as possible.

Lori PelentayLori BP, USA

Meet Lori. Lori has been passionate about cruising ever since she spent a year working as an officer aboard a cruise liner traveling around the Mediterranean, Baltic Sea, and Black Sea.

Based in California, Lori says having a host agency like 1000 Mile Travel Group behind her business is a big plus. “Sometimes things come up with clients, and when you have someone like 1000MTG behind you, suppliers pay attention and are responsive.”

Receiving training and support has also meant that while Lori is in business for herself, she’s not by herself. “The support team is there for you every step of the way, whether you’re a new agent, just starting in the business or experienced, plus the commission split is one of the highest in the industry.” As a single mom of two, being able to work from home has given Lori the freedom to spend more time with her children, help her 87-year-old mother, play host to her extended family and indulge her love for theatre.

Blake FergusonBlake F, Australia

Meet Blake. Blake joined 1000 Mile Travel Group after returning from living and working in the USA. Blake worked in numerous roles in the travel industry in the USA and Australia before starting his own travel business so he could have the flexibility to spend more time with his young daughter.

“Prior roles meant I was doing excessively long hours to achieve the same results. With 1000MTG, I work fewer hours and earn more money, and can focus on what I want, which is looking after my clients and being able to spend more time with my family.”

Being able to work from anywhere is important to Blake but so too is being supported. “I’m in full control of my business’s direction, but the 1000 Mile Travel Group team works with me and supports me to achieve my goals.”

Tanya VazTanya V, Australia

Meet Tanya. Tanya loves being able to run her business the way she wants and have the flexibility and autonomy to control her own career.

With 20+ years in the industry prior to starting her own business, Tanya enjoys tailoring her services to her clients’ specific needs and the sense of accomplishment she feels every day from running her own successful business.

Having flexibility and autonomy means Tanya can work her own hours from wherever she chooses, including recently from Thailand and Singapore where she mixed business with leisure on a family vacation.
